Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my keen interest to do some voluntary work in the museum.

Since my childhood, I was intrested in art and history ,and doing some part-time work in the museum give me a chance to experience artifects closely. Furthermore, this work help me gaining some handful real experience, which might be useful for my future job.

I recently completed my gradution in civil engineering, and have some skills related to project management and identifying deficiencies in the buildings. I think, this museum is quit old and you need a civil engineer to examine the faults of this heritaged building. I am willing to use my expertise to preserve this beautiful monoment for future generations.

Currently, I am working Monday to friday from 7:00 am to 3: 00 pm, but I will be availble full day on saturdays and 2 hours each day in the evenings in week days.

I hope you will give me a chance to work in the museum and it will be beneficial for both of us. Please share the schedule with me on your earlist convenience.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explain your motivation for volunteering, highlight your civil engineering background as a relevant skill, and provide specific availability. The tone is appropriate for a formal application. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, while you mention your interest in art and history, expanding on how your engineering skills specifically benefit the museum's preservation efforts would demonstrate a more sophisticated engagement with the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a formal closing. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate distinct ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore' and 'Currently' to link your thoughts. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more fluidly. Some transitions feel slightly mechanical, but the overall progression of information is clear and easy to follow throughout the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'voluntary work', 'expertise', and 'preserve'. However, there are several spelling errors ('intrested', 'artifects', 'gradution', 'quit', 'heritaged', 'monoment', 'earlist') and minor collocation issues, such as 'handful real experience' instead of 'hands-on experience'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score. To improve, focus on proofreading for spelling and ensuring that word choices are natural and precise in a professional context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I am writing to express...' and 'Since my childhood, I was interested...'. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including tense inconsistencies ('Since my childhood, I was interested' should be 'I have been interested') and article usage ('in the museum' should be 'at the museum'). Additionally, there are punctuation errors, such as the spacing in '3: 00 pm'. Increasing the frequency of error-free sentences and refining your control over complex structures will help improve your score.
