Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly explain your motivation for volunteering, outline your relevant educational background and skills, and provide a specific schedule of availability. The tone is appropriate for a formal application, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the outset. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more polished; for instance, while you mention your diploma, you could briefly elaborate on how your specific studies at Sheridan College would directly benefit the museum's daily operations. Overall, the task is fully addressed with relevant and well-developed ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter follows a logical structure with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific requirement of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your argument easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Apart from that', 'In addition', and 'Furthermore' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with sentence-level flow, such as the phrasing 'I am keen to work for a Mesuem is because'. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would further enhance the professional tone of your correspondence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly, including terms like 'theoretical knowledge', 'interpersonal skills', and 'well versed'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'intrest', 'voluntart', 'gratefull', 'histort', 'theriotical', and 'technicle'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. While your word choice is generally appropriate for a formal letter, the high frequency of spelling mistakes limits your score in this criterion. Focusing on proofreading your work to catch these basic errors will significantly improve your performance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical inaccuracies that occur throughout the letter, such as 'apply for the voluntart work' (should be 'applying'), 'I am pleased mention to share', and 'when I start can work just by myself'. Additionally, there are punctuation and syntax issues, such as the run-on sentence in the final paragraph regarding your availability. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency and accuracy of your writing.
