Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task effectively. You clearly explained your motivation for volunteering, listed relevant skills such as critical thinking and organization, and provided specific availability. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the purpose is clear from the outset. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, instead of just listing skills, you could briefly mention how a specific skill, like 'critical thinking,' would help you solve a particular problem in a museum setting. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets all requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a polite closing. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover,' 'As a result,' and 'Additionally' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. For example, the use of 'Also' at the start of a sentence is a bit informal. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the progression between sentences is smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, which helps the reader follow your argument easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'professional image' and 'advanced record keeping methods' are well-chosen. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'access me an opportunity' (should be 'give me') and 'through these job' (should be 'through this job'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I hope are doing well' (missing subject 'you'), 'in your museum for a part-time' (should be 'part-time work'), and 'allows me' (should be 'allow me' to match the plural 'you'). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and article usage during your final proofreading.
