Dear Sir/Madam,

Hope you are doing well. It has came to my light that your museum is actively searching for manpower to voluntary work. I am really excited to join the team for this noble cause.

From my childhood days, I am really keen to work in history and artifacts from the past. I do not want to miss this great opportunity to work in a museum. Moreover, this will also enhance my knowledge about past events. I can bring a lot of essentials skills on the table. To start with-dates of the past events, detailed information to provide the visitors (communication skills), organizing quiz and fun events for the local students.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: the reason for volunteering, relevant skills, and availability. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the skills mentioned, such as 'dates of the past events' and 'organizing quiz', are presented in a fragmented list format rather than being fully explained or contextualized. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the tone is slightly informal for a formal application, and the content could be expanded to better demonstrate the candidate's suitability for the role.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure of the application. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Transitions between ideas are occasionally abrupt, such as the transition from the introduction to the skills section. The use of bullet-point-like phrasing within the paragraph ('To start with-dates of the past events') disrupts the flow of the text. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring sentences are connected more fluidly would enhance the overall coherence of the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. Phrases like 'came to my light' (an incorrect idiom) and 'manpower to voluntary work' (grammatically awkward) indicate a limited control over collocations. While the meaning is clear, the lexical range is somewhat basic. To improve, you should focus on using more natural, formal collocations suitable for a professional application, such as 'I am writing to express my interest in...' rather than 'I am really excited to join'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'It has came to my light' (incorrect verb form), 'manpower to voluntary work' (missing preposition/article), and 'From my childhood days, I am really keen' (tense inconsistency). While these errors do not prevent the message from being understood, they demonstrate a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct tense usage will help improve your accuracy.
