Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: explaining your motivation, describing your skills, and stating your availability. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks professional polish. For instance, the explanation of why you want to volunteer is quite circular, focusing on 'helping the community' without linking it specifically to the museum's context. While you mention your hospital experience, the connection to museum-specific tasks could be more clearly articulated to demonstrate why you are a strong candidate. The letter follows the required format, but the tone is occasionally informal and slightly disjointed, which impacts the overall effectiveness of your application.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, the transition 'First of all' is used, but the subsequent sentences are run-on and lack clear logical connectors to link your past experience to your current application. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'by helping them supporting them', which creates confusion. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow between sentences within paragraphs needs more variety and better control to ensure a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic words like 'help' and 'work', which appear multiple times in close proximity. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'journrey', 'voluantary', and 'recive', as well as word-choice inaccuracies like 'request for give me chance'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to volunteering and professional environments, such as 'contribute', 'assist', 'availability', or 'relevant experience'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help make your writing more engaging and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include incorrect verb forms ('request for give me'), missing articles, and run-on sentences where clauses are joined incorrectly with commas (e.g., 'I have great experience before, I would be extremely grateful...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage and the closing of the letter. While your meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of sentence construction and subject-verb agreement.
