Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt, but the development is quite limited. While you explain your motivation and mention your interest in history, the description of your skills is vague; you mention being part of 'activities and expenditures' (likely meaning excursions) but do not clearly articulate how these translate into useful skills for the museum. Furthermore, you fail to provide specific details regarding your availability, which is a key requirement of the task. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, but the lack of specific information regarding your schedule means the task is only partially fulfilled.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter lacks clear paragraphing, which makes the progression of ideas feel disjointed. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link your sentences; most sentences are short and stand alone, creating a choppy flow. For example, the transition between your interest in history and your availability is abrupt. While the overall message is understandable, the lack of logical sequencing and the absence of clear paragraph breaks mean that the organization is not fully effective. To improve, you should group related ideas into distinct paragraphs and use linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your thoughts.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is somewhat limited and occasionally inaccurate. You use 'expenditures' when you likely meant 'excursions' or 'field trips', and 'chore' is an inappropriate word choice for a voluntary position at a museum, as it implies a tedious task. Phrases like 'make my time a memorable' are grammatically awkward. While you attempt to use some more formal vocabulary such as 'prestigious' and 'opportunity', the overall range is basic. To reach a higher band, focus on using words that are contextually accurate and avoid literal translations that result in unnatural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'I came through a add' (should be 'I saw an advertisement'), 'I wants to be' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'that we're taken' (incorrect use of 'we're' instead of 'were'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. You need to work on basic subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and the distinction between homophones like 'we're' and 'were'. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures will also help improve your score in this criterion.
