Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter covers all three bullet points: the reason for applying, relevant skills, and availability. However, the development of these points is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation of why you want to volunteer is brief, and the mention of 'cleaning supplies' is slightly unusual for a museum context, which might be better replaced by more relevant museum-related skills like customer service or administrative support. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the opening 'Dear Museum director' is slightly informal compared to the standard 'Dear Sir or Madam' requested in the prompt. Overall, the task is addressed, but the ideas could be expanded with more detail to better demonstrate your suitability for the role.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure of your application. There is a logical progression from your motivation to your skills and finally your availability. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and occasionally mechanical. For instance, the transition 'So that will be a very helpful in this job role' is a bit abrupt. Using more varied linking words or phrases to connect your ideas would improve the flow. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the letter follows a standard formal structure, which makes the overall message easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'voluntary', 'punctual', and 'incentives'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'work voluntary' (should be 'do voluntary work') and 'starting of the next month' (should be 'beginning of next month'). Additionally, 'ancient things' is quite simplistic; using more precise terminology like 'historical artifacts' or 'exhibits' would elevate the quality of your writing. The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The letter contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'working in museum' (missing article 'a'), 'i’ve yoga class' (informal contraction and missing article), and 'i' (should be capitalized 'I'). These errors occur frequently enough to be noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To improve, focus on consistent capitalization, correct article usage, and avoiding informal contractions like 'i’ve' in a formal application letter. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures would also help demonstrate better grammatical control.
