Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You explain your motivation (history student, career development), describe your skills (communication, knowledge of artifacts), and provide your availability. However, the tone is inconsistent; starting with 'Hi!' is too informal for a formal application to a museum director. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped. For instance, you mention having 'information related artifacts' but do not elaborate on how this would specifically assist the museum. To improve, ensure the tone remains formal throughout and provide more specific details to support your claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Apart from that', and 'Lastly' to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'information related artifacts which decorated your museum', where the connection between your knowledge and the museum's needs is not smoothly articulated. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing, such as 'good communication skill' and 'suitable job'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'information related artifacts' (should be 'knowledge of artifacts') and 'completed my master' (should be 'completed my master's degree'). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to the museum context and ensure that collocations are natural and accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'I writing this letter' (missing auxiliary verb), 'completed my master with history' (preposition error), and 'I am working as part-time in school' (article/preposition issues). While these errors do not prevent the message from being understood, they are frequent enough to impact the overall accuracy. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and consistent verb tenses will significantly improve your grammatical control.
