Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points: the reason for volunteering, relevant skills, and availability. However, the development of these points is quite basic. For instance, the mention of skills is repetitive, listing 'communication skills', 'hardworking', and 'caring' without explaining how these would specifically benefit the museum. The tone is also inconsistent; while it attempts a formal application, the language used is often too informal or conversational (e.g., 'I don’t have time issues'). To improve, you should expand on your experience and provide more professional justifications for your application.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas smoothly. Many sentences are short, choppy, and start with 'I', which makes the flow repetitive. For example, the transition between your previous experience and your current skills is abrupt. Using linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' would help connect your thoughts more logically. The paragraphing is also somewhat erratic, with some sentences standing alone as single-sentence paragraphs, which disrupts the overall progression of the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic words like 'work', 'volunteer', and 'easy'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'I am join my resume' instead of 'I have attached my resume' and 'searve my work' instead of 'offer my services'. The spelling errors (e.g., 'searve', 'ny') and the misuse of basic terms hinder the professional tone required for a formal letter. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary related to professional settings and improve your accuracy in word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('museum want to some volunteer'), article usage ('a advertisement'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'I am college student' (missing article) and 'I am available all your time in my college vacation period so I don’t have time issues'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and improper spacing. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors makes the writing difficult to read at times.
