Dear sir/Madam,

My name is Alvina Panchal. I leave in Northern Stoney Creek area Where National History Museum is located. I was passing through there yesterday and my attention drew on the notice board that says museum is looking for a volunteer staff. I would like to address my interest for this position.

I am a final year art student in London Public College. My major areas of expertise are restoring and maintaining artistic pieces. I have successfully completed three semesters with first class and also conducted workshops on campus. I am looking for a part-time job related to my studies as minimum of six months of work experience will also be added in final exam scores as a part of final semester co-op.

I have a daily Monday to Friday morning lectures for three hours. After 12am i am fully available to work in the museum. I can work all day on weekends to get job closure in detail.

Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you back.

Yours Faithfully

Alvina Panchal

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining your motivation, describing your skills, and stating your availability. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention your major in art, you could have elaborated more on how your specific skills in 'restoring and maintaining artistic pieces' would directly benefit the museum's daily operations. Additionally, the explanation of your availability is slightly confusing, as '12am' usually refers to midnight, whereas you likely meant 12pm (noon). Overall, the task is fulfilled, but more detail would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the prompt. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use basic cohesive devices like 'I am a final year...' and 'I have a daily...', which help link your sentences. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical, and there is a lack of more sophisticated linking words or transitions between sentences. The opening and closing salutations are appropriate for a formal letter, though the transition between the introduction and the body could be smoother.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'expertise', 'workshops', and 'co-op'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For instance, 'my attention drew on the notice board' is unnatural; a better phrasing would be 'my attention was drawn to the notice board'. Similarly, 'get job closure in detail' is unclear and does not fit the context of volunteering. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I leave in Northern Stoney Creek' (should be 'live'), 'Where National History Museum is located' (missing 'the'), and 'I have a daily Monday to Friday morning lectures' (incorrect article usage). Additionally, the phrase 'looking forward to hearing from you back' is redundant. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency and accuracy of your writing.
