Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter regarding the volunteer work for the art gallery. I have heard that museum is looking for unpaid workers. I want to attend this museum as volunteer work as it is near to my phone.
Currently, I am on my study break. I want to gain some field experience and to learn something new. I am studying art and ancient things. So, I believe working in this place could help me to broaden my knowledge limit. Which will help me in future to discover new things.
I believe my hands-on experience and skill can benefit to this museum in several ways. My communication skill can helps to instruct or teach the visitors about the specialty of the place. Moreover,my leadership quality and client-handling skill can benefit to guide the visitors.
In addition, I am free from studies for the next four months. I have also joined cricket coaching as my passion which is scheduled from thursday to sunday. I can volunteer attend Monday to wednesday. I am really excited about this oppurtinity. I really appreciate if yoy give me chance.
Sincerely,
Ravi Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt: explaining your motivation, describing your skills, and stating your availability. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in content, such as the phrase 'near to my phone' instead of 'near my home,' which slightly confuses the reader. The ideas are relevant, but the development is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, ensure that your reasons for wanting to volunteer are more clearly linked to the museum's specific context rather than just general personal gain.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use some cohesive devices like 'Currently,' 'In addition,' and 'Moreover' to connect your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly forced. The referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the connection between ideas could be smoother to improve the overall progression of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'field experience,' 'hands-on experience,' and 'leadership quality.' However, there are several word-choice errors, such as 'attend this museum' (instead of 'volunteer at') and 'specialty of the place' (which is slightly unnatural). There are also some spelling errors like 'oppurtinity' and 'yoy.' While these do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they limit the score as they show a lack of precision in vocabulary usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'my communication skill can helps' (subject-verb agreement) and 'I really appreciate if yoy give me chance' (missing articles and incorrect tense). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas. These errors are noticeable, though they do not impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
