Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt: explaining your motivation, describing your skills, and providing your availability. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, when mentioning your background in the Army, you list qualities like 'time management' and 'team management' but do not elaborate on how these specifically apply to a museum setting. To improve, try to connect your skills more directly to the tasks you might perform at the museum, such as guiding visitors or organizing exhibits, to provide a more persuasive and fully developed response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing, which helps the reader follow your points. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In addition' to transition between ideas. While these are effective, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is consistent. For instance, the transition between your background and your skills is a bit abrupt. Using more sophisticated cohesive phrases would help the text move more smoothly from one paragraph to the next, elevating the overall structure of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'advertisement', 'passionate', and 'atmosphere'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'respond on voluntary work' (should be 'apply for') and 'communicating on various instruments' (which is unclear). Additionally, 'I am from Army background' requires an article ('an Army background'). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your word choices are natural and contextually accurate for a formal application.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'I am very passionate to apply' (should be 'passionate about applying'), 'this jobs' (should be 'this job'), and 'would useful me' (should be 'would be useful to me'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are some minor errors in sentence construction. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
