Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You clearly explained your motivation for volunteering, highlighted relevant skills such as communication and organization, and provided specific details regarding your availability. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a museum director. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands your purpose and suitability for the role. To reach a higher band, you could provide a slightly more specific example of how your previous experience might translate to a museum setting, such as mentioning an interest in a particular historical period or a specific type of visitor engagement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a polite closing. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'On top of that', and 'In terms of', which help the reader follow your argument. The paragraphing is appropriate, with each paragraph focusing on a distinct aspect of the prompt. The progression of ideas is smooth, and the letter maintains a professional flow throughout. To improve, ensure that transitions between sentences are varied to avoid a slightly mechanical feel in some sections.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'undertaking voluntary work', 'align with your organisation', and 'flexible with my schedule' are well-chosen and appropriate for the context. However, there are some instances of slightly repetitive or less precise language, such as 'enormous skills' (which is not a standard collocation) and 'good communication skills'. Using more precise adjectives or collocations would enhance the sophistication of your writing. Overall, the vocabulary is adequate and does not impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are clear and grammatically sound. However, there are a few minor errors, such as the lowercase 'i' in the second paragraph and the awkward phrasing in 'having free time and want to use it productively', which lacks a subject. Additionally, 'enormous skills' is grammatically correct but semantically awkward. Despite these minor slips, your control of grammar is generally good, and your meaning is always clear. Focusing on proofreading for small slips and subject-verb agreement will help you achieve a higher score.
