Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You explain your motivation (interest in arts and history), describe your relevant skills (public speaking and event management), and provide your availability. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention being a student of arts, you could have expanded more on how this specifically benefits the museum. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though some phrasing is slightly unnatural. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, but more detailed elaboration would elevate the response to a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'Therefore', 'Furthermore', and 'Although' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as starting a sentence with 'Although' without a following clause that contrasts with the previous statement. Additionally, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. While the overall progression is clear, the management of cohesive devices needs more precision to achieve a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'recreational events', 'local values', and 'voluntary hours'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'more betterments' (which is redundant), 'considerable revert' (incorrect usage), and 'red' instead of 'read'. These errors occasionally distract the reader, though they do not prevent the message from being understood. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('i am student'), incorrect verb tenses ('i recently red'), and missing articles ('at museum'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization of 'I'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your accuracy.
