Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The candidate has addressed all parts of the task prompt reasonably well. The letter begins with the correct salutation and covers all three bullet points: it explains the reason for wanting to do voluntary work (utilising free time during the off-season and gaining experience), describes relevant skills and qualities (working as an event planner for eight years, managing huge groups), and gives details of availability (weekdays, excluding weekends). While the ideas are somewhat basic and repetitive in places, the core requirements of the task are fulfilled. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter to a museum director, although there are minor issues with register, such as 'At last waiting for a positive approach from your side.' Overall, the response meets the criteria for a Band 5.5 to 6.0, and is awarded a 6.0 as all parts are addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter exhibits a coherent overall arrangement, but paragraphing is problematic and disrupts the logical flow. The text is broken into short, fragmented paragraphs and single sentences rather than a cohesive letter structure. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes awkward, such as 'As mentioning earlier' instead of 'As mentioned earlier'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition of ideas between sentences feels somewhat mechanical. For instance, the repetition of the candidate's profession in the second paragraph ('As mentioning earlier, I am an event planner') shows a lack of smooth progression. Because the paragraphing is insufficient and cohesive ties are faulty, this criterion corresponds to a Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The lexical range is limited and adequate only for basic communication. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'volunatary' (misspelled), 'off season', and 'event manager', but makes noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation. Examples include spelling errors like 'offical' and 'volunatary', as well as awkward phrasing like 'gain my experience' instead of 'gain experience' or 'build my experience'. Vocabulary related to the profession is repeated unnecessarily ('event company as event manager', 'event planner'). These errors create some difficulty for the reader and reflect a vocabulary profile typical of a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the text. There are frequent errors in verb tense, article usage, and sentence structure. Examples include fragments like 'As I already working in an event company as event manager' (missing auxiliary verb and incorrect prepositional phrase), 'As currently I have an free time' (incorrect article), and 'every weekdays expect weekends' (misspelling of except, incorrect determiner). Punctuation is also poorly handled, with missing full stops and capitalisation errors. Although the meaning can mostly be deciphered, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors places this response firmly at a Band 5.0.
