Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The candidate has addressed all parts of the task prompt reasonably well. They explained why they want to do voluntary work by mentioning social duty and resume building, described useful skills such as management, communication, and a security license, and provided details of their availability (Monday to Friday after 10 in the morning). However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or expressed with some confusion regarding purpose and audience, such as stating that meeting strangers is a personal favorite quality. The tone is somewhat informal and occasionally strays into slightly unnatural justifications, but overall, the core bullet points of the task are adequately covered.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter has an identifiable overall arrangement, though the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and abrupt transitions. Paragraphing is attempted, but the middle paragraph becomes somewhat dense with mixed ideas about social duty, security experience, and personal preferences. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or inaccurately linked, such as using 'along with that' and starting sentences with 'Furthermore' or 'Moreover' in a repetitive manner. Referencing is occasionally unclear, which forces the reader to pause to connect the ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The candidate demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'voluntary team', 'autharized firm' (unauthorized spelling), and 'security licence'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation issues throughout the text, including 'express my skills of dealing with the people', 'exrovert person', and 'is onus on people'. Spelling errors like 'autharized' and 'exrovert' (extrovert) occur, and phrases like 'be the part of voluntary work' lack natural collocation. The vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the message, but inaccuracies prevent a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors and awkward constructions, such as 'Hope you find this letter well' (instead of 'I hope this letter finds you well'), 'i use to do' instead of 'I used to do' or 'I work', and lower case 'i' used for the pronoun. Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences and comma splices, for instance in the opening paragraph. While simple sentences are generally understandable, complex structures frequently contain errors that cause some difficulty or require re-reading.
