Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am writing in letter to apply for voluntary work in your museum as i heard from neighbour that you have postion open for part time worker.
I am currently working in unviversity and I had some voluntaring hours to complete and this is the best oppurtunity which i can get near my house. Also it fit's my skill set discription, I am a quadrilingual, i can speak french, spanish, english and korean which will be helpful to make people understand the ancient history in their mothe tongue.
As we have reading week, i have a very flexible schedule which will be benificiary to this part time voluntaring position as i can work during regular hours as well as weekends.
Please let me know if you need any more information from my side and let me know my working hours so can adjust my study hours.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response successfully covers all three bullet points required in the prompt. The writer explains the reason for wanting to do voluntary work, mentioning both university requirements and the convenience of the museum's proximity ("this is the best oppurtunity which i can get near my house"). Relevant skills and qualities are also described, specifically language proficiencies ("i am a quadrilingual, i can speak french, spanish, english and korean"). Finally, availability is clearly detailed by referencing the reading week and general flexibility ("i can work during regular hours as well as weekends"). The tone is appropriately formal for a letter to a museum director, and all parts of the task are adequately addressed, earning a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear purpose established in the opening paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, reasons, skills, availability, and closing remarks. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. The writer relies heavily on basic conjunctions like "and" and "also" to link clauses, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of pronouns without distinct antecedents. Furthermore, the lack of punctuation and capitalization control across sentences slightly disrupts the logical flow. Nevertheless, the progression of ideas is easy to follow, justifying a score of 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task. Less common lexical items are attempted, such as "quadrilingual", "flexible schedule", and "beneficiary" (though misspelled as "benificiary"). There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including "oppurtunity", "unviversity", "voluntaring", and "mothe tongue". These errors do not impede communication because the intended meaning remains clear to the reader. The use of vocabulary is sufficient for a Band 5.5, balancing successful attempts at specific descriptive terms with recurring mechanical and lexical inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety through relative clauses ("which will be helpful to make people understand...") and conditional ideas. However, control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are frequent punctuation omissions, missing capitalization for the pronoun "I", run-on sentences joined by commas rather than proper conjunctions or full stops, and grammatical slips such as "in letter to apply" and "postions open for part time worker". While these errors occur frequently, they rarely impede communication, placing the response firmly at Band 5.5.
