Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The candidate has successfully covered all three bullet points required in the task instructions. First, the purpose of the letter is clearly explained, stating a desire to keep busy during a school break and gain useful work experience. Second, relevant skills and qualities such as organizational, communication, time management, and teamwork skills are described. Third, specific availability details are provided, indicating work can be done twice per week on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a museum director. The response covers all parts of the task well with adequate idea development, fully satisfying the requirements for Band 6.5 to 7.0. Given the clarity of coverage, a band score of 6.5 is well justified.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is logically organized with an appropriate greeting and sign-off, following a standard formal structure. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate the introduction, the description of skills, and the availability details. Cohesive devices are generally present, though some referencing and transitions are slightly mechanical or faulty, such as the run-on structure in 'Presently, school is on break and i need...' and awkward clause linking like 'while, the time management...'. Paragraph progression is clear overall, but paragraph two could benefit from smoother linking phrases. This performance aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The candidate demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common collocations and work-related terms such as 'formally inform', 'organizational skill', 'commuication skill', and 'time management'. However, there are some noticeable word choice and spelling errors, including 'commuication' (spelling), 'enable me gain' (grammatical collocation), 'soonest' (informal style), and 'sarturdays' (spelling). Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended message clearly without impeding communication, fitting the Band 6 profile.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. The writer attempts some longer, more intricate sentences, such as 'Also,my good commuication skill will enhance a good flow of information while, the time management and teamwork skill will help ensure a smooth and timely flow of work...'. However, there are frequent punctuation and capitalization errors, such as lowercase 'i', comma splices ('...keep me busy, i believe...'), missing spaces after commas, and minor grammatical slips like 'work are carried out'. Complex structures tend to be somewhat faulty, though they do not impede overall communication. This corresponds to a Band 6 level of grammatical control.
