Dear Sir,

I am writring inform you that I am available to join the museum as unpaid worker. I saw your requirements in newspaper and I think I should do this part-time work.

Firstly, I would like to explain reasons behind why I want to do voluntary work. The primary reason is; recently I have completed my intermediate and I want to do my bachelors in the Histrory. Moreover, when I saw your advertisment regarding this job near my house, then I decided to do this. It will be convenient for me because of the location and I will gain experience for free of cost that would be helpful in my career.

Additionally, I would like to explain my skill and qualities that will be useful to the museum. I am very passionate about the History, hence I enjoy to do the work relatively. Furthermore, I learned about the antiques and precious material in detail. Consequently, you won't need to invest much time on me.

Lastly, I would like to inform you about my availablity. I can do 25 hours in weekdays.

I would appreciate, if you could hire me at this position.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully covers all three bullet points outlined in the prompt. The candidate explains why they want to do voluntary work, mentioning their recent intermediate completion and desire to study history at the bachelor's level, alongside the convenience of the museum's location. They describe their skills and qualities, noting their passion for history and prior knowledge of antiques. Finally, they provide details about their availability, stating they can work 25 hours on weekdays. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a director, and the purpose is clear from the opening paragraph. Although some points could be slightly more elaborated to reach the higher bands, the overall task requirements are adequately met.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each handling a different aspect of the task. The candidate uses standard linking words and cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'Lastly' to structure the response. However, some connections feel a bit mechanical, and referencing is occasionally slightly awkward, such as 'enjoy to do the work relatively.' Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, reasons, skills, availability, and closing. Overall cohesion is satisfactory and allows the reader to follow the letter easily, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 classification.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for a general workplace application, using terms such as 'voluntary work', 'advertisement', 'passionate', and 'antiques'. However, there are notable word choice and spelling inaccuracies, such as 'writring' instead of 'writing', 'Histrory' instead of 'history', and 'availablity' instead of 'availability'. Collocations are occasionally unnatural, such as 'gain experience for free of cost'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended message clearly, these recurrent errors prevent the lexical score from reaching higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The candidate attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional and subordinate clauses ('when I saw your advertisment regarding this job near my house, then I decided to do this'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with missing prepositions, incorrect infinitives ('enjoy to do' instead of 'enjoy doing'), and tense or spelling slips ('I am writring inform you'). Punctuation is also occasionally intrusive, such as the unnecessary semicolon in 'The primary reason is; recently I have completed'. These errors cause some distraction, but they do not impede overall communication.
