A museum near your home is looking for people to do part-time voluntary/unpaid work. You would like to do some voluntary/unpaid work at the museum. Write a letter to the museum director to apply for the voluntary/unpaid work. In your letter

• explain why you want to do voluntary/unpaid work at the museum
• describe some skills and qualities you have that would be useful
• give details of when you would be available for work

I am writing to express my interest in the part-time voluntary position at your museum. I have always been fascinated by local history and cultural heritage, and I believe this opportunity would enable me to broaden my knowledge while making a meaningful contribution to the community.

To begin with, I am a friendly, patient, and approachable person with excellent communication skills. I am also well organised, reliable and attentive to detail. These qualities would allow me to interact confidently with visitors, answer their queries and assist staff with day-to-day activities. Moreover, I am a quick learner and comfortable working as part of a team.

Regarding my availability, I can work on Monday evenings after 4 p.m. as well as Saturdays. I would be able to commit approximately ten hours per week and could commence from the first week of next month.

I would be delighted to contribute to your organisation and look forward to hearing from you.
