Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. The candidate successfully explains why they want to do voluntary work at the museum, mentioning a desire to experience old heritage, sculpture history, and expand social and economic knowledge. Useful skills and qualities, such as good communication skills and familiarity with past cultures, are also described. Furthermore, specific details regarding work availability are provided, distinguishing between weekdays and weekends. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a museum director. Although some ideas are slightly repetitive or underdeveloped, all parts of the task are adequately addressed, earning a Band 6.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is logically organised into clear paragraphs, starting with a standard opening, followed by body paragraphs covering the prompt's bullet points, and concluding appropriately. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'However' are used to connect ideas, though some referencing is occasionally clunky, such as 'the visitor who visit in the museum'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate the introduction, reasons, skills, availability, and closing. The overall progression is clear, though transitions could be smoother in places. This corresponds to a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items such as 'voluntary experience' and 'social and economics study'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'position of voluntary work ... which your museum looking for' and 'nations old heritage and sculpture history'. Spelling is generally acceptable, but phrasing is sometimes unnatural. The lexical range allows the student to communicate their main points, but persistent minor errors keep the score at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The candidate attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses ('which help me to provide...') and conditional ideas. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly missing articles ('in museum'), incorrect prepositions ('experienced in past cultures'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('your museum looking'). Punctuation is generally fine, but structural inaccuracies occasionally cause minor confusion for the reader. Because errors are noticeable and recurrent within complex sentences, this aligns with a Band 5.5.
