Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, successfully covering the explanation for wanting the voluntary work, the relevant skills and qualities, and the availability details. However, some ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the explanation of availability mentions finishing work at 2 pm and joining after the 20th of August, but the progression of ideas is slightly hindered by lack of elaboration on the exact duties. The tone and purpose are generally apparent, fitting the partial fulfillment of the communicative goals where certain bullet points are treated more briefly than others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter exhibits some overall organisation with paragraphs dedicated to separate topics, such as the introduction of the writer, availability, skills, and the final call to action. However, there is no clear overall progression due to somewhat disjointed sentences and repetitive structures. Cohesive devices are used minimally or inaccurately; phrases like 'that's the reason why' and 'as well as i can also manage' create mechanical links rather than smooth transitions. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun reference in 'help them exploring', which disrupts the flow of the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common expressions, such as 'time management' and 'billing details', but there are noticeable word-choice and word-form errors that detract from the writing. For example, using 'voluntary' instead of 'volunteer' and 'temporaray time worker' instead of 'temporary worker' shows a lack of control over word classes. Additionally, spelling errors like 'wiritng' and 'regrding' are present, though they do not completely impede communication for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer uses a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and coordination with conjunctions like 'and' and 'so'. Attempts at more complex structures are often faulty, visible in run-on sentences such as the second paragraph where multiple clauses are joined loosely without proper punctuation. There are frequent errors in capitalization, articles, and prepositions, such as 'living in the same area in which', 'spend with at home', and lower-case letter usage for 'sandhya' and 'dear sir'. These frequent errors can occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader.
