Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You successfully address all parts of the task by explaining your motivation for wanting to do voluntary work at the museum, describing your relevant skills and qualities, and providing details of your availability. For instance, you mention your studies in historical things at the local college and state your availability from next Monday between nine in the morning and five in the evening. However, some of these ideas are under-developed or lack full clarity. For example, your explanation of your communication skills and your desire to share information about the exhibits is somewhat repetitive and touches only superficially on how you can genuinely assist the museum. To reach the next level, you need to fully extend and support your ideas with more elaborated details and specific examples of how your background can benefit visitors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

Your letter demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear purpose established right from the opening sentence. You attempt to organise your response into paragraphs corresponding to the different parts of the prompt, such as your reasons for applying and your working hours. Nevertheless, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is occasionally unclear, which disrupts the logical progression. For instance, ideas within your second and third paragraphs feel somewhat disjointed, and the transitions between sentences rely on basic links like 'And' and 'It'. To achieve a higher standard, you need to use a wider range of cohesive devices more smoothly and ensure that paragraphing is used more purposefully to guide the reader seamlessly through your arguments.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases related to volunteering and daily routines, such as 'voluntary work', 'public places', and 'communication skils'. However, your vocabulary is hindered by frequent spelling errors, incorrect word forms, and awkward word choices, such as 'avalability', 'serval', 'tike', 'collage', 'FArid', 'knolage', 'abaut', 'banifitial', 'turiests', and 'abale'. These inaccuracies do not entirely impede communication, but they place a heavy burden on the reader. To improve your lexical score, you must focus on mastering standard spelling rules, improving your word formation, and selecting more precise vocabulary appropriate for a formal letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You demonstrate a basic mix of simple sentence forms along with some attempts at more complex structures, such as 'I am writing to expect my avalability to work in museum' and 'I would like to abale at the museum from next monday.' However, your writing contains frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and article usage. There are noticeable mistakes with prepositions and verb patterns, such as 'lived in local area', 'doing study in collage', and 'come from serval years', as well as frequent run-on sentences and missing capitalization. While these errors rarely completely obscure your overall meaning, they are persistent throughout the response. To progress further, you need to exercise greater control over sentence boundaries, improve your command of verb tenses, and refine your use of grammatical articles.
