Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you explain your interest through your history studies and appreciation of museums, identify research and communication skills, and state your availability. The application purpose is clear, and the closing is appropriate. The explanation of why you want to volunteer is relevant but brief; for example, you could say what aspect of the museum’s work or collection particularly interests you. Your skills are also named more than demonstrated: a short example of research or visitor-facing experience would make them more convincing. The availability is clear in broad terms, though specifying hours or preferred times on each available day would make this detail more complete. These relevant points are present, but some are less fully developed than others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter follows a clear, sensible sequence: an opening application statement, a paragraph about your background and skills, availability, and a polite closing. This progression makes the purpose easy to follow, and phrases such as “Moreover” help connect related points. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter. Some links between ideas could be smoother: the sentence about communication moves from engaging visitors to providing an experience without clearly showing how the skill would help. The repeated reference to visiting the museum also makes that sentence less streamlined. Overall, the organisation is clear; more precise connections within sentences would make the progression feel more natural and less dependent on explicit linking phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for an application, including “preserving our heritage,” “research experience,” “records and documentation,” and “engage with the visitors.” These choices show an attempt to use topic-specific language. However, several spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce accuracy, including “apreciation,” “benefical,” and “diverse skills.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “insightful experience of museum” and “part of volunteer team.” These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but they limit the precision and naturalness of the vocabulary. Aim to learn useful phrases as complete units and check spelling and word forms carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including a complex sentence beginning “As a history student” and a sentence with “which” to describe your skills. The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in basic patterns. For example, “I have a diverse skills” has an article and plural agreement problem, while “communication skill that can enable me … and providing” does not maintain a parallel verb form. In “I look forward to discuss,” the verb pattern should be “look forward to discussing.” Articles and prepositions are also missing in phrases such as “in week” and “at museum.” More accurate control of these common structures, alongside a few well-controlled complex sentences, would strengthen the letter.
