Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you explain that you want practical experience related to your administration studies, mention previous library work and relevant skills, and state that weekends suit your availability. The application purpose is clear, and your interest in museums is also included. However, some details are less fully developed: for example, you list “management, book keeping, and computer software skills” without explaining how these would help museum visitors or staff, and “as soon as possible” does not give a specific starting date. The question about what other skills are needed also makes the application sound less assured. Develop the examples and make the request and availability more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: you introduce your application, explain your motivation, describe experience and skills, and finish with availability and a closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, and signposts such as “Firstly” and “secondly” make the sequence easy to follow. However, the linking is sometimes mechanical, and “therefor” is used to connect ideas where a clearer relationship or a new sentence would work better. Some sentences also contain several different points, particularly the paragraph about library experience, skills, and references, which makes the progression less smooth. Use clearer sentence boundaries and connect each paragraph’s ideas more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough task-related vocabulary to communicate your application, including “hands on experience,” “management,” “book keeping,” and “part time.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or informal, such as “setting hiring,” “distant grade,” and “positive reply.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “alread” and “therefor,” also reduce precision. Some phrases, such as “what else skills do you need?”, are not well suited to a formal application letter. Aim for more precise, conventional expressions and check spelling carefully; this will make your meaning clearer and your tone more professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the reader can generally understand your main points. However, some errors in verb forms, articles, sentence construction, and punctuation remain. For example, “I have came to know” uses an incorrect verb form, while “I am full time student” is missing an article. The opening sentence also combines several ideas without clear grammatical structure, and punctuation is often missing after sentence boundaries, as in “subject.I am.” These issues sometimes make the letter harder to read. Practise accurate past-tense forms and article use, and separate long sentences into shorter, complete statements.
