Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter clearly applies for the voluntary role and addresses all three requested points. Your motivation is relevant and specific to the setting: you mention your interest in “history and culture” and wanting to contribute to the local community. You also identify useful qualities and experience, including communication, teamwork, punctuality, and assisting visitors, then give a practical weekly commitment and availability. These ideas are clear and supported, although some details remain general: for example, you could briefly explain where you gained visitor-assistance experience or how you would use your interest in history with museum visitors. Overall, the purpose and requested information are consistently clear, with room to develop a few points more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter follows a clear, appropriate sequence: application and motivation, relevant skills, availability, and a polite closing. Paragraphing helps the reader locate each part, and links such as “Furthermore,” “As for my availability,” and “I look forward to hearing from you soon” support the progression. The organisation is easy to follow throughout. Some linking is slightly mechanical or repetitive, particularly “Furthermore” followed by “Secondly, I also,” where the second transition is unnecessary and the ideas could be joined more naturally. The opening and closing are also separated into short paragraphs, which is acceptable but could be integrated more smoothly. Overall, cohesion is effective, though a little more flexible linking would make the letter flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use a suitable range of vocabulary for a formal application, including “keen interest,” “valuable experience,” “contributing to the local community,” and “commit to 10-15 hours weekly.” These choices communicate your motivation and availability clearly, and the tone is generally appropriate. Some word choices and collocations are less natural or precise: “museum guest” would be better expressed as “museum visitors,” while “at your organization” is rather broad when the letter is addressed to a museum. “I have a good communication skills” also contains a word-form/phrase-choice problem. The vocabulary is adequate and occasionally varied, but more accurate collocations and a few specific terms related to visitor support would improve precision and naturalness.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The response includes both straightforward sentences and more developed structures, such as “I believe working at the museum will help me gain valuable experience while contributing to the local community.” Most sentences are understandable, and the availability details are expressed clearly. Some grammatical errors remain. In “I writing this letter,” the verb needs an auxiliary (“I am writing”); “I have a good communication skills” has an article and number-agreement problem; and “support the museum guest” needs a plural noun or a different construction. The question mark after “I hope you are well” is also inappropriate for this statement. These errors do not prevent understanding, but checking verb forms, articles, and singular/plural agreement would make the letter more accurate and polished.
