Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you explain your interest in history, describe qualities such as organisation and communication, and give a start date and weekday hours. The application’s purpose is clear, and the details about being available from Monday and between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. are useful. However, some points are not fully developed or are unclear. For example, “It will be really useful for historical subjects for my education” does not explain how museum work would support your studies, and the reference to being a tourist guide would be stronger with a specific example of relevant experience. Also, the task specifies “Dear Sir or Madam,” but you address “Taylor,” which is not supported by the prompt. Explain your motivation and suitability more directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: you introduce your application, describe your qualities, state your availability, and close politely. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these main stages, and phrases such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore” signal additions. However, some linking language sounds mechanical or does not express a clear relationship. “Regarding this matter” and “Working on this matter satisfactorily” are repeated, formal-sounding transitions that do not help the ideas progress naturally. The first paragraph also moves quickly from the advertisement to your interest without a smooth explanation. Use simpler, more purposeful links, and make each paragraph develop one clear point. A conventional application-letter opening and closing would also make the organisation feel more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for an application, including “keen,” “time management,” “communication skills,” and “tourist guide.” These choices help convey your interest and potential contribution. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “keen about histories,” “a good communication skills,” and “busiest working hour.” There are also spelling and form errors, including “begining,” “prefere,” and “FIrstly.” Phrases such as “bring your attention to this matter” and “highlight few important observations” are overly formal and do not fit the straightforward purpose of applying for a volunteer role. Aim for clear, natural expressions and check spelling and word forms carefully; this will make your meaning more precise and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, using structures such as “Although it’s unpaid, I would love to work at a museum” and “I make notes and try to complete tasks before their deadlines.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make sentences awkward. For example, “I am such a organized and tidy person” has an article error, while “I might can be their tourist guide” combines modal verbs incorrectly. In “I am having a good communication skills,” the verb form and agreement are problematic. Several sentences also join independent clauses with commas, as in “I am such a organized and tidy person, I like to keep my surrounding clean.” Practise accurate articles, agreement, modal verbs, and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at varied structures.
