Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you explain your interest in “history and culture,” describe relevant qualities such as communication and organisational skills, and give availability on weekends and two weekday afternoons. The purpose of the letter is clear, and the closing is appropriate. However, some points are only briefly developed: for example, you could explain how your interest in history would help you contribute to the museum or give a specific example of assisting people. The response is also one word below the required minimum of 150 words, so it does not fully meet the task’s length instruction. Adding a little relevant detail would make the application more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter follows a sensible overall order: purpose, motivation, personal qualities, availability, and closing. This makes the main information easy to locate, and phrases such as “I am also willing to learn” help connect related points. However, the response is presented largely as one continuous block rather than in clearly separated paragraphs, which weakens the organisation for a formal letter. The transition from your interest in history to your skills is also abrupt. Use distinct paragraphs for your reason for applying, your suitability, and your availability, and add a linking phrase where the focus changes. This would create clearer progression while retaining the straightforward structure you already have.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a suitable range of vocabulary for an application, including “responsible,” “communication and organisational skills,” “effectively,” and “commit.” These choices communicate your qualities and availability clearly. However, several spelling errors and awkward expressions reduce accuracy, including “histoy,” “interecting,” “wiling,” and “quiries.” “With a concern of part-time job” is also an unnatural way to state your purpose; “to apply for a voluntary position” would be more precise. The vocabulary is relevant but not yet consistently controlled, particularly in collocations and spelling. Proofreading carefully and choosing more natural application phrases would make your language more fluent and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple sentences and some more developed structures, such as “I believe this opportunity would allow me to learn new things while contributing to the community” and “I would be happy to adjust my schedule.” Most of the message remains understandable. Some grammatical and punctuation issues are present, however. The opening sentence needs an article and a clearer construction: “I am writing to apply for a part-time voluntary position at the museum.” The fragment “and I believe” after a full stop should begin with a capital letter, and “available at work” should be “available to work.” There is also inconsistent capitalisation in “Yours Sincerely.” More accurate sentence boundaries, articles, and prepositions would improve control.
