Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you explain that you want to develop communication and management skills, mention experience at a community centre, and state that you are available from next week during your college break. The purpose of the letter is clear and the details are relevant. However, some points are less fully developed than others. For example, you name useful skills but do not explain how they would help you contribute to museum work, and “all day” does not clarify which days you can attend. The reason that the museum is close to your home is also less persuasive than a reason connected to the museum itself. Add a specific contribution you could make and clearer availability details to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable structure, with an opening, separate paragraphs for your motivation and experience, a paragraph about availability, and a closing. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Although,” and “Finally” help signal the stages of your message. Overall, the reader can follow your purpose and main points. However, these transitions sometimes feel mechanical, and the paragraph beginning “Although I have an experience” does not clearly connect its opening to the sentence that follows. The list of skills also runs into the next sentence without clear punctuation. Use more natural links between ideas, and make sure each paragraph develops one clear point with unambiguous references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of relevant vocabulary, including “communication,” “management,” “self-confidence,” and “time management,” which helps convey your interests and experience. The meaning is generally understandable, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word-choice and collocation errors make the letter sound less natural, such as “a part-time voluntary work,” “do a unpaid work,” and “as your earliest convience.” There are also spelling errors, including “comunity,” “managment,” “sucess,” and “requirments.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, but they reduce precision and polish. Learn common application-letter phrases and proofread spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “as” and a contrast introduced by “Although.” The overall message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy and occasionally make sentence relationships unclear. For example, “I have been worked” uses an incorrect verb form, while “the main reason to do a unpaid work, I want to gain” is not a complete, well-formed sentence. In “I look forward to hear from you,” the verb pattern after “look forward to” is incorrect. There are also issues with articles, sentence boundaries, and punctuation, such as the missing space after “self-confidence.” Practise complete sentence construction and check verb patterns, articles, and punctuation.
