Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern era, people do not get enough sleep due to various reasons. They find it very difficult to sleep at night. It can cause many problems to humans. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss its reasons and some solutions to the problem.

On the one hand, there are many drawbacks of not getting enough asleep. First of all, it will be very hard to concentrate on studies for students who can not sleep properly. As a result, it can influences their academic results. Apart from that, if employees did not have good sleep, it causes strees among them and make them feel loser. Workers can not enhance their productivity without having a good sleep. Moreover, wommen are also suffering from this equally and not able focus on their household chores.

On the other hand, there are many solutions to the problem. First and foremost, everyone should make a to do list of their works so they can manage their work schedule and personal life. Therefore, they can have good sleep at night. Furthermore, using a smartphone at late night also affects your sleep so that we should minimise the usage of our digital devices. Nowadays, people are very concerned about their future so they keep thinking about things which are out of their control. Forgetting all difficulties of life and have a positive hope are very helpful to give you a good sleep at night.

To conclude, having a good sleep is very beneficial not only for your body but your brain as well. people are underestimating the power of sleep. Everyone should take initiatives to balance their sleep pattern. That is only possible when we will manage our daily routines accordingly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the question: it identifies consequences such as difficulty concentrating, poorer academic results, stress, reduced productivity, and problems completing household tasks, then offers measures including planning work, reducing late-night phone use, and adopting a more positive outlook. These ideas are relevant, and the essay has a clear overall focus. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the link between poor sleep and feeling “loser” is unclear, and the advice about positive thinking is not developed into a practical step. The discussion also focuses more on effects at work and study than on explaining the range or seriousness of the problems. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on problems, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from effects to remedies is easy to follow, and signposts such as “First of all,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude” help guide the reader. This provides a coherent structure, while the paragraphing is appropriate. To make the organisation more flexible and natural, avoid relying so heavily on formulaic transitions such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and connect related ideas through their meaning. Some references are also unclear: “it” in “it causes strees among them” could refer to poor sleep or to employees’ circumstances. Clearer links between claims and explanations would strengthen the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses enough vocabulary to discuss sleep, its effects, and possible remedies, including “concentrate,” “academic results,” “productivity,” “manage their work schedule,” and “digital devices.” These choices make the main ideas understandable. However, several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “not getting enough asleep,” “feel loser,” “strees,” and “wommen” are inaccurate, while “positive hope” is not a natural expression in this context. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “good sleep” and “problem.” Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully; more precise expressions would help you explain the effects and solutions without changing your meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including a conditional-style explanation with “so they can manage their work schedule” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” Most sentences communicate the intended point, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “it can influences” has incorrect verb form, “it causes … and make them” has inconsistent agreement, and “not able focus” is missing “to.” The final sentence, “That is only possible when we will manage,” also uses an unsuitable tense pattern after “when.” Review subject–verb agreement, infinitives, and tense choices in subordinate clauses. More accurate control of these patterns would make the argument smoother and clearer.
