Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 194 words. This significantly impacts the development of the ideas. While you identify two causes (work schedules and social media), the essay is incomplete as it fails to address the second part of the prompt: 'What can be done about lack of sleep?'. Because the response is under-length and omits a major component of the task, it cannot progress beyond a Band 5.0. To improve, you must ensure you address every part of the question and provide a full, balanced essay structure.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay uses basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' to organize ideas, which provides a clear overall arrangement. However, the progression is interrupted by the abrupt ending of the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but the lack of a conclusion or a section addressing the solutions makes the structure feel incomplete. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that you include a concluding summary to tie your arguments together.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'inflation', 'real estate', and 'addictive contents'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'strogly', 'intendend', 'ferquenlty', and 'ticktok', which detract from the quality of the writing. Additionally, some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'outweigh the stress' or 'stretching body entire day'. To improve, focus on proofreading your work to catch spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more precise collocations to express your ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'I strogly agreed' (tense inconsistency), 'people intendend to work' (spelling/verb form), and 'which puts more burden on every workers' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage and sentence fragments. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentences are complete thoughts rather than fragments.
