Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as mental health issues and the impact of technology. However, the development is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of how lack of sleep affects physical strength is brief and could be better supported with more specific detail or a clearer example. While the position is clear throughout, the essay would benefit from more depth in the analysis of the points raised to fully meet the requirements of a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for problems and solutions, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'Firstly', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by grammatical errors or awkward phrasing, such as 'Discussing the issues, the foremost one I shall put forward is that...'. Overall, the structure is functional and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'sleep', 'problems', and 'issues'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural or inaccurate, such as 'unable to work confidently' instead of 'unable to work effectively' or 'up to major extent' instead of 'to a great extent'. While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and the student struggles with collocations, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('habits leads', 'person take'), missing articles ('if person take'), and incorrect verb forms ('can be take', 'can reduced'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence structure is often repetitive. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and suggest a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms.
