Student answer (Band 6.5)
Sleep consistency has become a widely debatable topic all over the globe. Many people report that they are having a hard time sleeping and are unable to get enough sleep for the day. Lack of sleep can be caused by multiple factors like mental health, physical wellness and many more. This essay will discuss the possible causes of insufficient sleep and will discuss the possible solutions for the issue.
I will start with discussing the causes that affect the sleep quality and duration. Firstly, mental health is the primary cause of sleep deficiency. This is because the mind is engaged in the thoughts which will not let the brain relax and sleep for a longer period of time. Secondly, the overall physical health can directly impact the quality and quantity of sleep in a human body. This is due to the fact that good physical health will lead to a better blood circulation cycle and ensures a good quality sleep. In addition to that, lack of physical workout also contributes to an uneven sleep cycle as body is not tired enough at the end of the day which causes difficulties in sleeping. Therefore, there are multiple causes which can cause problems in getting enough sleep.
The possible solutions for this issue will include more physical workout, prioritizing mental and physical health, fixing sleep pattern and sleep schedule. People should ensure that their body is getting enough workout and exercise for muscles to get tired so that they can relax and recover while sleeping. This will ensure a better sleep patterns. Moreover, it is best to work on the mental and physical health to ensure a healthy body. A study depicts that sleep quality is directly linked to the mental health. Also, a report shows that most of insomnia cases are directly linked to mental health.
To conclude, lack of physical workout, mental health and physical health can directly influence the quality and quantity of sleep. However, following a proper workout schedule and working on mental and physical health will result in better sleep.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the response is somewhat superficial. While you mention that mental health and physical health are causes, you do not clearly explain the specific consequences (problems) of sleep deprivation, such as cognitive impairment, irritability, or increased risk of accidents. The solutions are also quite general. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or consequences, such as how sleep deprivation affects workplace productivity or long-term health, rather than repeating that it is 'linked to mental health' without further elaboration.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In addition to that' to signal progression. However, the flow is sometimes repetitive. For example, the phrase 'directly linked to' is used multiple times in the third paragraph, which makes the writing feel a bit mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the central idea of each paragraph is clear, but the transition between ideas could be smoother to improve the overall flow and coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'insomnia', 'deficiency', and 'prioritizing'. However, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, particularly the use of 'mental health' and 'physical health' throughout the text. There are also some minor collocation issues, such as 'blood circulation cycle' and 'getting enough workout', which sound slightly unnatural. To improve, try to use more varied synonyms and precise collocations to express your ideas with greater sophistication and accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors. For instance, 'the mind is engaged in the thoughts' (should be 'engaged in thoughts'), 'a better blood circulation cycle' (should be 'better blood circulation'), and 'a better sleep patterns' (should be 'better sleep patterns'). Additionally, there are some issues with article usage and pluralization. The majority of your sentences are understandable, but the frequency of these minor errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band score.
