Student answer (Band 6.5)
Sleep consistency has become a widely debatable topic all over the globe. Many people report that they are having a hard time sleeping and are unable to get enough sleep for the day. Lack of sleep can be caused by multiple factors like mental health, physical wellness and many more. This essay will discuss the possible causes of insufficient sleep and will discuss the possible solutions for the issue.
I will start with discussing the causes that affect the sleep quality and duration. Firstly, mental health is the primary cause of sleep deficiency. This is because the mind is engaged in the thoughts which will not let the brain relax and sleep for a longer period of time. Secondly, the overall physical health can directly impact the quality and quantity of sleep in a human body. This is due to the fact that good physical health will lead to a better blood circulation cycle and ensures a good quality sleep. In addition to that, lack of physical workout also contributes to an uneven sleep cycle as body is not tired enough at the end of the day which causes difficulties in sleeping. Therefore, there are multiple causes which can cause problems in getting enough sleep.
The possible solutions for this issue will include more physical workout, prioritizing mental and physical health, fixing sleep pattern and sleep schedule. People should ensure that their body is getting enough workout and exercise for muscles to get tired so that they can relax and recover while sleeping. This will ensure a better sleep pattern. Moreover, it is best to work on the mental and physical health to ensure a healthy body. A study depicts that sleep quality is directly linked to the mental health. Also, a report shows that most of insomnia cases are directly linked to mental health.
To conclude, lack of physical workout, mental health and physical health can directly influence the quality and quantity of sleep. However, following a proper workout schedule and working on mental and physical health will result in better sleep.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention mental and physical health as causes, the explanation remains repetitive, focusing heavily on general statements rather than specific consequences (e.g., impact on productivity, cognitive function, or long-term health). Similarly, the solutions are somewhat generic. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete examples or detailed explanations of how these solutions specifically mitigate the problems mentioned. The position is clear, but the depth of analysis is limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'In addition to that', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved by ensuring that each sentence builds more effectively on the previous one. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between the causes and solutions could be smoother to create a more cohesive argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'sleep deficiency', 'insomnia', and 'physical wellness'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a tendency to repeat words like 'causes', 'sleep', and 'health' frequently. There are some minor issues with collocation, such as 'blood circulation cycle' (which is slightly unnatural) and 'fix sleep pattern'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and synonyms to avoid repetition and enhance the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'the mind is engaged in the thoughts' (unnecessary article) and 'as body is not tired' (missing article). There are also some awkward phrasings, such as 'a study depicts that sleep quality is directly linked to the mental health'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on article usage and sentence variety will help improve your accuracy.
