Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as mental stress and health risks like heart disease, and the solutions, such as time management and physical exercise, are logical. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation of how lack of sleep affects health is quite brief and could be expanded with more specific details or examples. The position is clear throughout, but the overall depth of the argument is limited, which prevents it from reaching a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore', though some are used mechanically or with minor errors (e.g., 'To commeng with'). The progression of ideas is generally logical, moving from problems to solutions. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing or missing articles, which makes the connection between sentences feel less natural. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'exhaustion', 'productivity', and 'imperative'. However, there are frequent spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'consilled' (considered), 'caus' (cause), 'healt' (health), 'attach' (attack), 'adress' (address), 'televison' (television), 'excercises' (exercises), and 'exarcise' (exercise). These errors are noticeable and detract from the overall quality of the writing, although they do not prevent the reader from understanding the intended message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it create mental pressure'), article usage (e.g., 'in publy events'), and word forms (e.g., 'take prople sleep'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some unnecessary commas and missing spaces. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limits the score. To improve, the writer should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that sentence structures are grammatically sound.
