Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention mental and physical health, the explanation remains quite general. For instance, you state that it is 'hard for someone to focus,' but this could be expanded with more specific consequences or examples to fully develop your argument. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of analysis is more characteristic of a Band 6.0, as the ideas are relevant but could be extended further to provide a more comprehensive answer.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'To conclude.' However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Additionally, there are issues with punctuation and sentence boundaries, such as 'day to day life.which can effect,' where the lack of proper spacing and punctuation disrupts the flow. Improving the transition between sentences and ensuring consistent paragraph structure would help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'mental health,' 'decision making ability,' and 'holistic growth.' However, there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'lake' instead of 'lack,' 'exersice' instead of 'exercise,' 'essasive' instead of 'excessive,' 'atlest' instead of 'at least') and some word choice inaccuracies, such as 'cause roots' and 'become a discipline person.' To reach a higher band, you should focus on more precise vocabulary and ensure accurate spelling of common terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people does not get,' 'everybody have a smartphone') and incorrect word forms ('it will effect' instead of 'affect'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and proofreading for punctuation would significantly improve your writing.
