Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as concentration issues, aggression, and health problems like obesity. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the suggestion of 'sleeping medicine' for the older generation is a bit abrupt and lacks nuance. The introduction is slightly confusing in its phrasing, though the overall position is clear. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed explanations or specific examples, ensuring that the connection between the cause and the effect is fully explored.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Henceforth, the issues will be elucidated in further paragraph'. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are a bit abrupt, which affects the flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss the topic, using terms like 'detrimental effects', 'mitigate', and 'work-life balance'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'people more found to work', 'less sufficient sleep', and 'number of causes welcome in one's life'. These errors occasionally make the text feel unnatural. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and phrases rather than individual words, and try to use more precise vocabulary to express your ideas more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('their body started to react', 'Yoga needs to be done regular basis') and article usage. Some sentences are also structurally awkward, such as 'there could be chance they are not able to manage'. While these errors do not prevent communication, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the text. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be highly beneficial.
