Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by sleep deprivation and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact on physical health and the role of employers in promoting work-life balance. However, the development is somewhat basic. While the example of a driver is effective, other points, such as the suggestion for meditation, are mentioned briefly without deep exploration. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed explanations or nuanced examples. The position is clear throughout, and the essay maintains a consistent focus on the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Consequently', 'Firstly', and 'To illustrate' to connect your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes slightly mechanical or repetitive. For instance, 'As a result' is used twice in close proximity, which affects the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the problems to the solutions. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring they are used more naturally would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the task and allows for clear communication. You demonstrate a sufficient range of topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'sleep-deprived', 'work-life balance', and 'productivity'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'fix sleeping schedule' (should be 'fixed') and 'much important' (should be 'very important'). The range is adequate to convey your meaning, but it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Incorporating more precise collocations and a wider variety of academic vocabulary would strengthen this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'loose focus' (should be 'lose'), 'a accident' (should be 'an accident'), 'it can helps' (should be 'it can help'), and 'if employee have' (should be 'if employees have'). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not generally impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, article usage, and ensuring that complex structures are formed correctly.
