Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under-length, containing only 74 words compared to the 250-word minimum requirement. Consequently, the response is incomplete and fails to address the task requirements adequately. While the introduction touches upon the topic, the essay stops abruptly mid-sentence, preventing any meaningful development of the problems caused by lack of sleep or potential solutions. Because the response is so brief, it cannot be considered a fully developed essay, which severely limits the score for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is too short to demonstrate a clear logical progression or effective paragraphing. While there is a basic attempt to introduce the topic, the abrupt ending makes it impossible to evaluate the use of cohesive devices or the overall structure of the argument. The transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is present, but the lack of further content means that coherence cannot be established beyond the most basic level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally simple and contains several errors, such as 'technologically advance' (should be 'advanced'), 'curtain ways' (should be 'certain ways'), and 'ommiting' (should be 'emitting'). The phrase 'doom scrolling' is colloquial and perhaps too informal for an IELTS essay. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands, and the spelling errors indicate a lack of control over basic lexical items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The text contains several grammatical errors that impede clarity, such as 'The ramification of becoming technologically advance and becomeing' (should be 'The ramifications of becoming technologically advanced and becoming'). There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and word choice, such as 'reason after' (should be 'reason for'). The sentence structures are basic, and the incomplete nature of the text means that a range of complex structures cannot be demonstrated. Punctuation is also inconsistent.
