Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention mental health issues and academic performance, these points could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The position is clear throughout, and the structure is appropriate for a task of this nature. To improve, ensure that each main point is fully explored with a clear link back to the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Likewise', 'Moreover', and 'However' to guide the reader through your arguments. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problems from the solutions. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the relationship between sentences is always smooth and natural, rather than relying on a standard list of connectors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'compromised', 'rectified', and 'academic performances'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'less sleep time' (better: 'insufficient sleep' or 'sleep deprivation') and 'physically active works' (better: 'physical activities'). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Expanding your repertoire of collocations and topic-specific terminology would significantly enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and verb tense, such as 'people who did not got' (should be 'get') and 'Individuals those who were experiencing... is' (should be 'are'). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic agreement errors and ensure that your verb forms are consistent throughout the text. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures will also help improve your score.
