Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the discussion on mobile phones is mentioned in both the problem and solution paragraphs without adding significant depth. The ideas are relevant, but the explanation of how these problems lead to specific health issues or how the solutions could be implemented is quite basic. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed examples or logical consequences for your points, ensuring each paragraph offers a distinct and well-supported argument rather than repeating similar concepts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Consequently', and 'In addition to this' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Despite this' used to introduce a solution paragraph, which does not logically contrast with the previous paragraph. Additionally, some sentences are disjointed, and the flow between ideas could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used to create logical relationships between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'ameliorated', 'adverse', and 'demolished'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations, such as 'eye-sightedness', 'sleeping power', 'levying some tensions', and 'protect their siesta'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly unclear or sound unnatural. To improve, focus on learning common collocations (words that naturally go together) rather than individual synonyms. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message, more precise and natural word choices are needed to move into the higher band range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'In todays time', 'human beings are using cellphones in whole day', 'these hyper-tensions does not lead', and 'they can able to'. These errors involve subject-verb agreement, article usage, and incorrect verb forms. While these mistakes do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, you should focus on basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of modal verbs like 'can' and 'able to'. Reducing these recurring errors will significantly improve your score.
