Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of 'obesity' and 'high blood pressure' as reasons for sleep deprivation is slightly confusing, as these are often consequences rather than causes. The solutions provided, such as 'healthy diet' and 'avoid overthinking', are relevant but lack depth or specific examples of how these can be implemented in a modern, busy lifestyle. To improve, you should expand on your points with more logical connections and concrete explanations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression from problems to solutions. You use some cohesive devices like 'Additionally', 'On the contrary', and 'To conclude' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Both the aspects are explained in the ensuing paragraphs' in the introduction. Additionally, some sentences lack clear internal cohesion, making the flow feel a bit disjointed at times. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic. There are some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'getting enough sleeps' (should be 'sleep'), 'increase physical diseases' (should be 'increase the risk of physical diseases'), and 'suffering with lack of sleep' (should be 'suffering from'). You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but the range is limited. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider variety of academic vocabulary to express your ideas more fluently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('many people follows', 'the person have a good health') and article usage errors ('the obesity', 'a unhealthy life style'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading your work to correct subject-verb agreement and article usage, and try to incorporate more complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
