Student answer (Band 6.5)
In this fast paced competitive era, almost everyone is struggling to balance their personal and professional life due to which they are facing challenges of not getting enough sleep. This is a serious issue and can cause multiple problems. By taking right approach, people can solve this problem and can live a happy and healthy life.
Sleep is a vital part of our daily routine and life. Lack of sleep can cause numerous problems. Firstly, sleep deprived person's mind do not function properly owing to which he started to feel anxious, exhausted and even depressed sometimes. Secondly, it reduce the productivity not only mentally but physically as well. Furthermore, stress add up and make things more worse. A person who does not take enough sleep feel challenging to focus on completing his task. For example, survey which was done in U.K shows that 80 percent of people's stress reason is lack of enough sleep.
There are many right approaches that we can take in order to mitigate the impact of less sleep. Initially, we need to work on our daily routine and fix our sleeping and wake up time because by doing this we can fix our body clock. Additionally, we should try to focus on our night routine which can include bath, meditation and reading. Moreover, there should be strict rule for no use of smartphone and laptops before one hour your sleep. Studies have shown that the blue lights from the screen of computers and our gadgets make a barrier for sleep. For those who cannot take 7 to 8 hour sleep they can follow 'Yog Nidra' because 30 minutes of this meditation is equal to 6 hour sleep.
In conclusion, I would like to reiterate my point by saying that health is wealth and sleep is really crucial for us to perform well in all aspects of our life. By meticulously planning our routine we can avoid this problem and balance our personal and professional life without sacrificing our sleep.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as the mention of mental health issues and the impact of blue light. However, the development is occasionally slightly superficial, and the example regarding the UK survey lacks specific context or credibility. The position is clear throughout, and the essay maintains a consistent focus on the topic. To reach a higher band, ensure that examples are more specific and that the explanation of consequences is more deeply explored.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problems from the solutions. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some referencing is a bit repetitive. The transition between ideas is generally smooth, but the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and sophisticated to improve the overall flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'mitigate', 'meticulously', and 'reiterate'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'make things more worse' (should be 'make things worse') and 'fix our sleeping and wake up time' (should be 'establish a consistent sleep schedule'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding the range of collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('sleep deprived person's mind do not function', 'it reduce the productivity', 'stress add up') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors, such as missing commas in complex sentences. While the meaning is always clear, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a stronger grasp of basic grammatical rules to achieve a higher score.
