Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you mention 'depression' as a consequence, it is not elaborated upon. Similarly, the solutions provided, such as 'balancing work and life', are somewhat generic and lack specific, concrete examples to fully support your arguments. The introduction is slightly confusing as it mentions agreeing with a statement that was not provided in the prompt. To improve, ensure each point is fully extended with clear explanations and relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In addition to, the other reason is that' or 'furthermore, there is way to solve'. Some sentences are run-on, and the transition between ideas feels abrupt. The logical progression is present but hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic terms like 'things', 'good', and 'give impact'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'shcedual' (schedule), 'medial' (media), and 'foe' (for). Some collocations are unnatural, such as 'part and partial' (the correct idiom is 'part and parcel') and 'ample amount disease'. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct context and spelled accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'lifestyle give impact'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'it can be force to them'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses.
