Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development is inconsistent. While the impact on health and the role of technology are mentioned, the ideas are often presented as lists of assertions rather than fully developed arguments. For instance, the link between 'technical trends' and 'imbalance of hormones' is stated but lacks logical explanation. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which prevents a clear summary of the position. To improve, ensure each point is supported by a clear explanation or a concrete example, and always complete your final paragraph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between and within them is often disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition to this' and 'Moreover', but they are sometimes applied mechanically or incorrectly, as seen in the sentence starting with 'however' in the second paragraph. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly with the use of 'this' and 'it' without a clear antecedent. The progression of ideas is hindered by awkward phrasing and grammatical errors, making the logical connection between sentences difficult to follow at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations, such as 'upgrading technical trends', 'mentally health issue', and 'buoyed in the reality'. Some phrases are repetitive, and the student struggles to use more sophisticated vocabulary effectively. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of control over word choice and collocation limits the score. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary and focusing on natural word pairings would significantly improve your performance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most youngsters are using'), article usage, and sentence fragments (e.g., 'It leads to reduce alertness'). Punctuation is also problematic, with several run-on sentences and comma splices. While the errors do not completely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to cause strain for the reader. To reach a higher band, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and reducing errors in verb forms and prepositions.
