Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the causes are identified, the explanation of the consequences (e.g., 'relationship becomes strained') is brief and could be more thoroughly explored. The solutions provided are relevant, but some points, such as 'employers should give promotions', are slightly tangential to the core issue of personal sleep management. The position is clear throughout, but the essay would benefit from more detailed examples to fully support the arguments presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To tackle this problems their are a plethora of solutions'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. Despite these minor issues, the overall progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'contemporary era', 'competitive environment', and 'plethora', which is positive. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'more busier', 'have getting problems', and 'without effective on their sleep'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision and sophistication of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('one of the major cause'), article usage, and verb forms ('they spend more time with work and not take rest'). Punctuation is also inconsistent in places. While the student attempts complex sentences, these often contain errors that detract from the overall accuracy. The writing would benefit from closer attention to basic grammatical rules and sentence construction.
