Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is state that, significant numbers of people have been facing problems with sleeping during night. I intend to discuss several causes for the same and also try to provide possible solutions to overcome these problems.
In the first place, one major cause for the reduction in the sleeping hours is late night internet browsing. Many individuals in today's time, spend their most of the free time during night hours, scrolling social media platforms and stay awake till midnight. For instance, younger generation uses Instagram and YouTube for long hours and end up getting late for sleep. As a result, they feel insomniac in the night. Furthermore, another cause is mental stress. Working professionals most of the time stay in work stress and anxiety which leads to sleeping imbalance and ultimately causes serious sleeping disorders such as sleep apnea.
Now move to solutions, it should be everyone's personal responsibility to take adequate sleep for the better health. One measure can be taken in the form of making strict time-table for sleeping time. To illustrate it, one can put reminder in their mobile phone to go to the bed on a fixed time everyday. Moreover, implementing balance in personal and professional life can also help to reduce the work pressure after working hours and may contribute to better sleep quality for an individual. As an outcome, they would feel more energetic on the next day morning to be productive at work place.
To summarize the above narratives, there are several cause which lead to less sleep, mainly late night browsing and mental pressure at job place. However, this problem could be resolve by implementing strict sleeping schedule and by balancing working life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as late-night internet browsing and mental stress as causes, and time management and work-life balance as solutions. However, the development is somewhat limited. For example, the mention of 'sleep apnea' as a result of stress is a bit of a leap, as this is typically a physical condition. To reach a higher band, the ideas could be extended with more detailed explanations or specific, real-world examples rather than brief mentions. The position is clear throughout, and the response remains focused on the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a specific focus. There is a clear introduction, body paragraphs for causes and solutions, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In the first place', 'Furthermore', and 'To summarize', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Now move to solutions'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally imprecise, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'insomniac' and 'productive', but there are also instances of awkward phrasing or word choice, such as 'It is state that' (should be 'It is stated that') and 'sleeping imbalance'. Some collocations are slightly unnatural, like 'take adequate sleep' (should be 'get adequate sleep'). While the range is sufficient to communicate the message, the lack of precision and occasional errors in word choice prevent a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'spend their most of the free time' (unnecessary 'their'), 'younger generation uses' (should be 'the younger generation'), and 'this problem could be resolve' (should be 'resolved'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in article usage and verb forms. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to suggest that the writer does not yet have full control over complex structures, placing the essay firmly in the band 6 category.
