Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you mention mobile phone usage and stress as problems, the explanation of the actual consequences (e.g., health issues, productivity loss) is thin. Similarly, the solutions are practical but could be expanded with more depth or specific examples. To reach a higher band, ensure that each idea is fully extended with clear reasoning and illustrative examples rather than just stating the problem and a brief solution.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'Secondly', 'However', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas is slightly disjointed, such as in the concluding paragraph where the sentence structure is fragmented. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'responsibilities' and 'stressful'. However, there is a reliance on simple, repetitive language (e.g., 'very important', 'good sleep', 'taking some steps'). There are also minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'people like to spent their most of on mobile phone' and 'they have to get up early for their work due to which they cannot complete their sleep'. Expanding your range to include more precise academic vocabulary would improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('many problems are responsible', 'people are feel'), missing articles, and incorrect preposition usage. For example, 'Because this they always think' should be 'Because of this'. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors limits the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage will help you achieve greater accuracy.
