Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the link between 'junk food' and sleep is mentioned but not explained in detail. The conclusion is also quite weak, stating that insomnia 'cannot be cured,' which contradicts the prompt's request for solutions and is factually questionable. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples and ensure your arguments are logically extended rather than just listed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused. Phrases like 'in a lieu of that' and 'In each and every part of world' are used incorrectly, which disrupts the flow. Additionally, the transition between the problem of stress and the problem of junk food is abrupt. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'in contrast') would significantly enhance the logical progression of your ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect collocations, such as 'in a lieu of that' (instead of 'as a result') and 'give their best to reduce this lack of sleep problem.' You rely on basic vocabulary and occasionally struggle with word choice, which limits your ability to convey complex ideas clearly. Expanding your range to include more topic-specific collocations related to health and lifestyle would improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include incorrect article usage ('in each and every part of world'), subject-verb agreement ('younger generation tend to'), and punctuation errors (double commas). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and preposition usage.
