Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is no denying that, folks are struggling to get required sleep and rest due to their busy work and schedules. Unsatisfied sleep creates numerous issues related to mental and physical health, however there are plethora of practices and steps that we can take to eliminate this habit of not fulfilling necessary sleep. The following paragraphs will elucidate the reasons behind this problem and provide pertinent methods to solve it out.

It is widely accepted that our hectic work schedules are always longer than what we expect. Thus, employees are not getting enough time to rest and sleep. Due to this, they are suffering with headache and serious high blood pressure. For example, I face trouble to drive my car in the morning if I sleep late at night. Apart from that, laziness and anger also come from lack of sleep. Furthermore, individuals who are spending their night in playing games and watching movies at midnight are facing high obesity disease. It also plays vital role in enhancing anxiety and nervousness among the people. Eventually, having deficiency of sleep has very harsh issues which cause mental and physical troubles.

There are exceptional ways and routines that we can organize and set up to tackle this issue. To begin with, for instance, construction workers should prepare schedule of working hours and stop doing job after the end of shift because they perform physically challenging tasks everyday. Additionally, government should restrict overtime hours in such fields of construction and warehouse, so workers can balance their work-life schedules.

In conclusion, based on the aforementioned reasons and ways to prevent this issue, I firmly believe that it is hard to escape from this trouble, but not impossible if we follow the limited job timings and impose stop on over-time hours.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the problems caused by lack of sleep and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as health issues like high blood pressure and anxiety, and the suggestion of government intervention regarding overtime. However, the development is somewhat limited. The explanation of why these problems occur is a bit superficial, and the solutions are focused heavily on construction workers, which narrows the scope of the argument. To achieve a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or broader examples that apply to the general population rather than focusing on a specific industry.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Additionally,' and 'In conclusion' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Eventually, having deficiency of sleep has very harsh issues.' The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to create a more sophisticated structure. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and supports the logical development of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'elucidate,' 'pertinent,' and 'aforementioned.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'Unsatisfied sleep' (should be 'Insufficient' or 'Inadequate'), 'solve it out' (a redundant phrasal verb), and 'impose stop on' (which is not standard English). While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, the lack of precision and the presence of these errors prevent a higher score. Focusing on collocations and more natural phrasing will help improve your lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. For example, 'folks are struggling' (too informal), 'suffering with headache' (should be 'suffering from headaches'), 'spending their night in playing' (should be 'spending their nights playing'), and 'high obesity disease' (should be 'obesity'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound.
